Have you ever noticed that when we open new bulk glass water bottles, we often see a small bag of desiccant in the bulk glass water bottles? Today we will talk about why there is desiccant in the bulk glass water bottles.
What does desiccant do?
As the name suggests, desiccant protects products from moisture so that they remain intact. Is this the only function of the desiccant? of course not. There are three common functions.
1. Desiccant can absorb moisture in the glass water bottles bulk
Although workers will ensure that the inside of each glass water bottles bulk is dry before leaving the factory. We all know that it takes a long time from the factory to the supermarket or store and when we buy it. In order to prevent mold or corrosion inside the glass water bottles bulk, merchants usually see desiccant when we buy a new glass water bottles bulk. Desiccant is usually made of highly hygroscopic materials that absorb excess moisture inside the glass water bottles bulk and keep it dry.
2. Desiccant can remove odor in the water bottle
Water bottles made of different materials will produce different odors due to different chemical compositions. For example, plastic cups easily release volatile organic compounds, and stainless steel mugs bulk may have a metallic taste. The glue, paint and other materials used in the production process of the water bottle may remain or evaporate in the cup, causing odor. The desiccant can absorb the smell and remove the odor in the stainless steel mugs bulk, thereby deodorizing and keeping the interior fresh.
3. Desiccant can extend the service life of the thermoflask
In a humid environment, water marks or water stains are likely to appear on the inner wall of the thermoflask. Long-term moisture will shorten the heat preservation of the thermoflask. Use desiccant to absorb moisture and reduce the dampness of the cup, thus extending the life of the thermoflask.
So how do you generally choose a desiccant in a thermoflask?
The following is our understanding and selection of various desiccants as a merchant. When you don’t use the thermoflask for a long time, you can also purchase a desiccant that suits you to extend the life of the product.
1. Silica gel desiccant
Silica gel desiccant has a high moisture absorption capacity, which can effectively absorb moisture in the cup and prevent water vapor from condensing to form water droplets in the thermoflask. It has the advantages of non-toxic, odorless, and non-corrosive. It will not have any impact on the thermoflask after absorbing water.
2. Activated carbon desiccant
Activated carbon is a porous material with a well-developed microporous structure inside. These structures are characterized by good absorption performance. At the same time, activated carbon can purify the air, remove formaldehyde, and effectively remove odors in the thermoflask. Activated carbon desiccant is more cost-effective than silica gel and tea-flavored desiccants, and it is our preferred desiccant product for thermoflasks.
3.Tea scented desiccant
The main component of tea-flavored desiccant is crushed tea leaves. Its main function is to cover up the odor inside the thermos cup. It also has a certain hygroscopic effect, but it is not as good as the hygroscopic effect of silica gel and minerals. It is generally used in plastic water thermoflasks.
In addition to the desiccant in the thermoflask, is there any other desiccant I can use on it?
of course. Desiccant is used in many places, not only in thermoflask, but also in clothing and food.
1. Nano desiccant
Nano desiccant is usually used in luggage, shoes and clothing products, and is used with anti-mold bags/anti-mold sheets to achieve the effect of product desiccant and mildew inhibition. A 50*50mm anti-mold bag and desiccant has an effective anti-mold space of about 25*25*15cm. During the rainy season, 1-2 more bags can be added as appropriate. This can also be kept in our wardrobes and in shoe boxes that we don’t wear. It will remain intact until the next use.
2. Food deoxidizer
The food deoxidizer absorbs oxygen in the packaging through the oxidation principle of iron powder, and quickly reduces the oxygen concentration in the food packaging to less than 0.01% within 0.5-2 days to ensure that the food is not oxidized and spoiled. For example, it is recommended to use type 50 deoxidizer for moon cakes and pastries. Agent, it is recommended to use type 100 deoxidizer when the food weight is within 150-250g.
Is the more desiccant the better?
The amount of desiccant is the most critical point in desiccant application. The more desiccant added, the better. Too much desiccant may cause the product to become drier, affect the structure of the product itself, and may also produce dust or other Impurities affect product quality. The amount of desiccant should be determined based on the size of the product packaging space and the size and humidity level of the items to be protected.
I hope the tips shared today will be useful to you. Now we know that desiccants can not only be placed in cups, but can also be used in all aspects of our lives. A small desiccant goes a long way.
